How We Work With You
What to expect from us
Exercise should be fun, and it should be rewarding.
But you need to know which exercises are right for you – and you need to know how much exercise is enough to improve your health, rather than demote it. It is a myth that you must break your muscles down to build them up, in fact if you feel sore after working out then your muscles have entered the injury cycle. This is a warning from your body of too much stress, not a sign that it was a great session!
Which is why our first task is to teach you the things you need to know about your body and exercise. We will dispel the myths and misinformation you may have already been taught, to enable you to exercise much more successfully and, of course, safely in the future.
(Very important, when you consider that most people who go to the gym are probably doing themselves more harm than good.)
So we start with learning about you: what is your current health situation, how you got to it, your goals, and your expectations of us and exercise. For one person, it may be to be pain free, for another to run the marathon in under X hours.
This learning about you involves both a practical and life history evaluation. Depending on your goals, current health and ability, this usually requires between one and two sessions.
The life history evaluation will usually include:
Knowing this, we can then move on to looking at your current physical health and ability, using:
We will then be in a position to plan a training and treatment program that’s designed specifically for your needs, your body, and your lifestyle, which is realistic and honest about where you are today, and what it will take to achieve your goals.
After starting your exercise and treatment plan, we will continually evaluate your progress, monitoring every session, so we can progress you effectively and efficiently to continued improvements in your health and well being.
What we expect from you
This is the hard part. We want you to commit to the notion that exercise is for a lifetime, and not just for now. Be open and willing to learn new things, taking an active interest in yourself, while listening to your body.
So if you are ready to look at your self and exercise with new eyes, then contact us today.
